Want Whiter Teeth in 2019? Consider these New Years Resolutions!
It’s almost time for the New Year, which means it is time to start making your New Years resolutions! This year, why not try to improve your smile? Here are a few easy, yet achievable resolutions you can make to start improving the appearance (and health!) of your smile in 2019.
Resolution #1: Start a diet.
And we don’t mean go on your standard weight-loss diet. Instead, we recommend avoiding foods that can leave stains on your teeth. These foods include the classics like coffee, wine, soda, and sugary sweets. You’ll also want to avoid certain spices, sauces, and dressings like paprika, balsamic vinegar, curry, marinara, curry, and turmeric. Finally, in order to keep your teeth looking great, try to limit your intake of citrus foods such as blackberries, pomegranates, and blueberries. By avoiding these known stain-causers, you can get whiter teeth naturally!
Resolution #2: Form good habits.
It is important to keep up good oral hygiene habits— particularly when it comes to flossing! While flossing often gets overlooked by our patients, it is one of the most important things you can do to keep your teeth looking beautiful and feeling great. Flossing helps you to get rid of the plaque between your teeth that would otherwise lead to decay and cause a yellowish stain on your teeth. Therefore, keep your dental floss out on your counter so you remember to use it at least once every evening!
Resolution #3: Quit smoking.
If you want to improve your oral health and your smile in 2019, quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do! Smoking causes oral health issues like gum disease and tooth decay, which not only have a great impact on your health but also leave your teeth looking less than stellar. Not to mention, the ingredients in cigarettes are known stain-causers! Tar leaves a dark brown stain on your teeth that is difficult to remove, and nicotine turns yellow on your teeth when it comes into contact with oxygen. Therefore, to improve the health and appearance of your smile, be sure to quit this harmful habit next year!
Resolution #4: Treat yourself a whitening treatment.
At Hinsdale Dental, we offer an in-house whitening treatment called Zoom! Whitening. Unlike other whitening treatments that can be harmful to your dental enamel, this revolutionary new treatment gives you beautiful results in a day without damaging your teeth. In just one 45-minute appointment, your teeth will look beautiful and your dental enamel will still be in great condition!
Resolution #5: Take the time to schedule check-ups.
An important part of self-care is taking the necessary time for your check-ups and doctors visits. This includes visiting your dentist at least once every six months! When you visit Hinsdale Dental, we provide a professional cleaning treatment that will make your teeth look like new. We’ll also check your teeth and gums for signs of illness that could otherwise damage both your health and the aesthetic appearance of your teeth.
